Taking the brand’s global best selling model, Kia builds on the practical strengths of the subcompact Rio 5-Door in its all-new design that premiered here at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.

With the 2018 model, Kia is attempting to sculpt a more mature vehicle, giving it a longer, lower exterior that emphasizes confidence and strength. The front end boasts the now familiar Tiger Nose grille and is flanked by narrower, more aggressive looking headlights. Around back the Rio features Kia’s new arrow-shaped LED taillight look.

Inside, the 2018 Rio 5-Door receives upgraded materials, a more spacious cabin and a driver-focused layout center-pinned by a new infotainment system.

Engines range from a new turbocharged 1-liter direct injection three cylinder to a 1.4-liter diesel four. The three-cylinder engine offers up to 120 horsepower.

Small doesn’t seem so little for the fourth generation Rio 5-Door. Look for it to go on sale globally in the first quarter of 2017.
