A debut from Mercedes-AMG is guaranteed to draw a crowd, and that’s just what happened here at the 2016 Paris Motor Show with the world premiere of the all-new GT C Roadster.
A droptop version of the GT was a no-brainer considering the success of its SLS predecessor. Out front, the GT C features the new Panamericana grille first seen on the GT R, while above is a fabric soft top that opens and closes in about eleven seconds.
But the real thrills come from under the hood courtesy of its 4-liter V8 bi-turbo engine boasting 550 horsepower. Mercedes-AMG claims the GT C can sprint from zero to 60 miles per hour in a mere 3.7 seconds on its way to a top speed of 196 miles per hour.
A seven-speed dual clutch automated-manual transmission modified specifically for the GT C ensures acceleration is smooth and shift response fast.
The only slowdown is that the Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster doesn’t arrive in U.S. showrooms until fall of 2017. Expect a line waiting for test drives.
